Title: 3$ Contrast Enhancer: Increase The Perceived Black Depth or Contrast With Tape

Read these or watch the extended video versions to learn about proper display height (vastly reduce AHVA/IPS/PLS glow), and how to match the display brightness with the room light (how much display brightness to use versus room lighting brightness) first.

The majority of modern monitors come with what the manufacturers call bezel or frame-less panels which are not truly bezel-less or frame-less, and have a perceived black depth reducing inner black bezel on the top and sides, and sometimes all four edges of a display:

My Solution

My potentially warranty voiding solution and surefire way to vastly improve the perceived black depth or contrast is to put non-stick, perceived black depth increasing tape on the inner black bezels.

I use this silver Scotch tape (https://www.londondrugs.com/3m-scotch-expressions-washi-tape/M0004730.html?dwvar_M0004730_color=Silver&cgid=homelifestyle-hardwareandhomeaccessories-householdglueandtape) on a few fake border or frame-less monitors I own such as the Acer H257U, HP 24 Envy (HP 24 Envy with and without tape (https://www.flickr.com/photos/97364704@N08/29019642047/in/dateposted-public/) and HP 25er without and without tape (https://www.flickr.com/photos/97364704@N08/43407700012/in/album-72157681224609793/)) and 25er.  I've removed and re-taped a few monitors after a few months and not had issues with tape residue, however I must warn that adding tape to a monitor may void the warranty.
